Frequently Asked Questions
If you are curious about my trips and why I do them, you can read my blog post, Jewelry Travel?
What defines a Rue Pigalle trip?
While every trip is unique, they all share four characteristics. Each trip is reserved for women only. We always end up with a compelling mix of like-minded, interesting people. They are high-end. I think of them as adventures, but we don’t rough it. From hotels to restaurants to events, I select every experience to be luxurious. Each trip is based on expert knowledge, supplemented by local guides, or by an artist-in-residence along for the trip. And finally, each trip is focused on exclusive access. You’ll experience well-trodden cities in new and unique ways.
Can you describe an average day?
For all my trips, each day unfolds in three temps-forts: Daily Feature, Let’s Do It All and After Dusk.
Daily Feature This is the heart of each day when we enjoy our bespoke exclusive activities, usually starting around 10:00am and ending at 3:00pm.
Let’s Do It All At the end of our Daily Feature activities, guests have the option to either join me for an extra local activity or enjoy some personal exploring time at their own pace. The list of optional activities is shared with the guests closer to the time of the trip.
After Dusk We reconvene at the end of the day for pre-dinner drinks and go on to our evening program.
How do you plan the trips?
I do not rely on third party reviews. For every trip I do a dry run first, checking every hotel and restaurant, meeting every artist, visiting every gallery, so that only the exceptional and unexpected will make it onto the itineraries. It’s a time-consuming and labour-intensive process but it’s also a great privilege. And it’s the only way to make sure you get the unique experience you are entitled to.
How are you able to grant your travellers access to such rare and unique experiences?
Over the years I have developed a strong, reliable network of artists, curators, experts, boutiques, museum directors, and hotels that trust me and are very supportive of my work. They give extra attention to my guests and are always delighted to share new ideas and experiences with us.
What are the physical requirements for the trip?
The best way to enjoy any city is to walk wherever possible. So we walk a lot and we take public transports when convenient and pleasant. You have to be able to walk streets and pavements that are irregular (cobblestones, for example), go up and down stairs and in and out of buses and metro.
What kind of hotel do we stay at?
I always select luxury boutique hotels with a local feel, offering a personal service, great amenities and are centrally located.
How many people will there be?
I will be on every trip, along with 7 to 10 like-minded and fabulous women.
What is the price?
Prices depend on the trip, and include accommodation, meals, and travel — all you have to do is show up. It does not include flights and airport transfers. Pricing details are provided in our detailed itineraries for each trip.
What should I pack?
I’ll provide a detailed packing list, as well as a reading list and other materials a few weeks prior to the trip.
Is trip insurance required?
You are encouraged to purchase trip insurance. As each person is different, it is recommended you consult with your insurance provider.
What travel documents do I need?
Depending on your nationality and the country we are visiting, you should consult with your embassy in the country visited about travel documents required.
What is your cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy is specified in each itinerary. Please be sure to read it carefully.
I’d love to join you, but your dates don’t work for me.
That is not a problem. I am always happy to accommodate guests who can only come for part of the trip. Please do contact me and I am sure we can find a solution that will allow you to do it all!
Do you organize bespoke trips?
I do! All you need to do is gather a group of your friends, and I’ll do the rest. Contact me and we can chat about what is possible.
Are you a travel agent?
I am not a licensed travel agent. That is why I have partnered with Roger Kershaw Custom Travel who will assist you with flights, transfers and any other travel question you may have.
Do you have Traveller’s Terms & Conditions?
Yes. You can read them here.
